Positive Health Network’s Men4Men Program provides sexual health services in partnership with Hamilton Public Health Services, specifically catering to the needs of lgbtq+, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM).
What is Men4Men?
The Men4Men program of Positive Health Network works to improve the lives of gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men. We act this through providing sexual health education and society resources, and by highlighting personal empowerment; we notice that guys have the right to make their own decisions about their sexual health. Men4Men was founded in , and provides a number of targeted community services in the Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk, and Brant regions. We hope to occupy our community by reaching out to guys in person and online in spaces that hold significance to our community.
Men4Men’s Sexual Health Clinics
As a part of our mission to promote better sexual health for gay, bisexual and other men who contain sex with men, we partner with the General Health units in the regions we serve to provide special Sexual Health Clinics just for men. These clinics are held in traditional clinic spa
Multiple endocrine neoplasia, type 4 (MEN 4) is an autosomal dominant syndrome characterized by adenomas and sometimes hyperplasia of the parathyroid glands and tumors of the pancreatic islet cells and/or pituitary gland. Hyperparathyroidism and asymptomatic hypercalcemia commonly occur. Diagnosis is by hormonal and imaging tests. Tumors are removed surgically if they cause symptoms or for suspected malignancy based on size criteria.
MEN 4 is caused by an inactivating mutation of the CDKN1B gene, which codes for the cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor 1B protein, also known as p27 or p27KIP1. The protein is involved in cellular growth and training and has an crucial role in regulating the cell cycle. It acts as a tumor suppressor and when the protein is lost, cells can undergo unscheduled replication, which may eventually lead to cancer.
Although MEN 4 involves the same primary organs as MEN 1 (parathyroids, pancreas, and pituitary), patients tend to present later in life and contain a more indolent course of disease than those with MEN 1.
MEN 4 is much less shared that MEN 1, with fewer than patients currently described in the society literature.

The Men4Men Clinic is a partnership with Hamilton Public Health Services that provides free sexual health services to Hamilton’s diverse communities of gay, attracted to both genders, queer and other men who have sex with men, whether they are cis or trans. We run a monthly full-service sexual health clinic at Positive Health Network on the second Wednesday of every month from pmpm, and provide rapid anonymous HIV testing in various outreach venues such as bathhouses, bars, campgrounds and special events.
