Chesa boudin gay

Here’s what happened around the city for the week of March 13, 2022:

- GrowSF recommends voting Matt Haney on April 19
- 68% of San Franciscans support recalling Chesa Boudin
- When our boycotts impair us more
- Permanent closure of JFK Drive within reach
- Powerful stories of Asian women who encounter and confront anti-Asian bigotry
- I’m gay, you’re male lover, we’re all gay

Fresh on the heels of the February 15, 2022 election comes the runoff between Matt Haney and David Campos. Bilal Mahmood was our #1 choice but he didn’t manage to place in the superior two, so now voters will decide between Matt Haney and David Campos. GrowSF recommends voting for Matt Haney because he’s better than Campos on everything we care about: housing, transit, and petite business issues, among others.

Stay tuned to the GrowSF report for our June 7 voter guide, where you’ll vote on 23 different contests!

A recent poll shows that 68% of likely voters in San Francisco support recalling District Attorney Chesa Boudin in the June 7 election. The numbers are worse when it comes to unfavorable opinion of Boudin (74%) and an “only fair” or “poor” job rating (78%).

The poll was conducted February 17 to 21

San Francisco is a mid-sized North American capital. It has almost exactly the same population as Columbus, Ohio. It’s about 15 percent larger than Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Those two cities, for good or ill, don’t captivate the national imagination. But this one does. You don’t hear about “Columbus values” or a “Winnipeg liberal,” but “San Francisco” does serve as a modifier. “San Francisco” is a metonym. Things happen everywhere, but in San Francisco, Things Matter.

As such, in 2014, four Smart cars were tipped over in San Francisco in the course of a week and it became fodder for international news stories. And that was odd: People flip over Wise cars enough there’s even a term for it: “Smart tipping.” All it takes are large men, small cars, too much alcohol and not enough brainpower; San Francisco’s hilly streets probably help, too.

But those stories searched for deeper meanings behind all this. Because in San Francisco, Things Matter; surely, this Means Something.

In the display day, veteran city operatives backed by oodles of cash from extremely wealthy funders and t

Leanna Louie just can’t assist it. After being booted off of the ballot by City Attorney David Chiu last week for failing to prove her residency in District 4, the scandal-dogged wannabe Board of Supervisors candidate on Tuesday announced plans to challenge the decision.

But Louie’s continued presence on the political stage could complicate things for her political allies, such as fellow D4 candidate Joel Engardio and interim District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. Chiu may have done everyone a favor by kicking Louie off the ballot, since the loose-cannon candidate’s determination to stay in the D4 race will only lead to more embarrassment.

Case in point: When news of Chiu’s decision landed, I shelved a column I was writing about her apparent anti-gay, anti-trans behavior on social media. Now it’s relevant again.

Already under investigation for residency fraud — and under fire for referring to a Jewish journalist as a “Nazi” — Louie can add a unused charge to her growing list of public offenses: homophobia.

On May 31, Louie expressed support for a post in which a commenter referred to former District Attorney Chesa Boudin using an anti-gay slur. Louie — described by the San Fr

San Francisco voters should recall District Attorney Chesa Boudin June 7th.

My disillusion with Chesa’s show stems from his blunder to live up to his progressive promises while at the same moment failing to develop justified and effective standards for the implementation of his laudable goals.I have personal experience about his defeat to prevent unnecessary violent prosecution of a Ebony man.

Chesa’s office would not divert or work with the public defender when one of our church’s gay refugee Guardian Team clients was arrested in a roommate dispute. I was not there as a witness but I understand that our guy froze up when the police arrived because he has PTSD from entity beaten by cops in Africa. So the police heard only the roommate’s description of what happened and arrested our guy. Our guy is light, not muscular, and really not physically threatening. Our guy had no criminal record. It was a “he said, he said” situation. Regardless, Cheasa’s staff would not drop the charges or work with the public defender to come to any resolution. The DA’s office — Chesa’s office
