listen y’all, gay men asking for respect from content creators who aren’t male lover men but choose to write about gay men anyway isn’t the age for you to travel, ‘but creator of x gay male narrative is a woman, so why should it matter if she wants her writing to cater to what she thinks her women readers might want?’
it matters because she chose to write about gay men, and real life homosexual men are going to be reading those narratives and internalizing anything harmful in them, and linear people are going to be reading those narratives and projecting whatever harmful things they see advocate onto gay men in their lives.
we’re not asking you to stop writing gay male stories. we’re asking you to note gay male stories that don’t degrade gay men in the process, that respect our humanity, that gives us the narratives we deserve
