Perhaps one reason he doesn’t officially come out is because he is enjoying the sudden mystery surrounding his sexuality.
As previously mentioned, and is my understanding, that in the earlier years of his career, he was unquestionably out. As in, people around him just assumed he was gay, it wasn’t all that relevant to the roles he was getting and pursuing, and there was no reason to publicly discuss it.
Once he was suddenly being submitted for and getting passionate leading he-man roles, he started to enjoy the sudden mystery surrounding his sexuality that hadn’t previously existed. A mystery, that also happened to be the cause of more and more offers of great roles in wonderful projects. What can be more attractive about a person than mystery?
Why should he be in any hurry to extinguish the mystery?
