Gay cruise film

I remember back in the day being shown Boat Trip by a housemate who was also male lover. He said that it was a hilarious show with almost every ethics being homosexual. I watched the film all the way through out of politeness (something that wouldn’t happen now) and reflection it was the control opposite of being a great film centred around ‘the gays’. Will my opinion of the clip change after watching it more than 20 years later?

The film concerns Jerry (Cuba Gooding Jr), who has been jilted by his girlfriend after he took her up in a hot-air balloon to propose to her. Unfortunately, due to being queasy at being up so high, he vomits all over her (the film’s only funny gag). His friend suggests they leave on a cruise as apparently loads of ‘hot babes’ go on them. A vindictive travel intermediary places them on a GAY cruise instead. And so we have the premise of this cinematic opus. Hilarity ensues (!)

The first striking thing about the film is that about 95% of it I didn’t remember. Maybe on first viewing, I just zoned out (a skill I learnt in school primarily during triple Physics) or dissociated at the sheer horror of it all. Boat Trip deals prima gay cruise film

Gay cruising and its geography in cinema and documentary

The idea for this list grew out of discussions after I rewatched Goodbye, Dragon Inn (2003) and a recommendation from David Conner.  My interest is in films where cruising forms part of the plot (rather than just incidental background), with a particular interest where the film focuses on the geography or architecture where the cruising occurs, in addition to the rituals of cruising.  Films are listed alphabetically.

I have not included narrative films/documentaries where the cruising happens in the context of sex work or hustling.  Gary Needham is curating a great list for those films at Movie Trade: Hustlers and Male Sex Work in Cinema and Documentary.  Acknowledging that cruising has moved online for many men, I have not included films about online cruising, which need a seperate list.

The list is a serve in progress and suggested additions via replies are very welcome.  Cruising is a common theme in gay porn, most of which will not be indexed on Letterboxd (Note: This was changed from August 2021.). I am adding these films/documentaries in the replies area in my Goodbye, Dragon Inn review (it should be near the top)

Gay Cruise Documentary ‘Dream Boat’ Lands at Strand for North America

Strand Releasing has acquired North American rights for Tristan Ferland Milewski’s documentary “Dream Boat” from Cinephil, Variety has learned exclusively.

The documentary has its West Coast premiere on July 12 and 13 at the upcoming edition of Outfest. The clip premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February.

The film centers on a cruise ship occupied of gay men, and follows five men from five countries on a quest for connection and release. The five men on the ship are natives of Austria, France, India, Palestine, and Poland. International waters provide the opportunity for them to split their hopes and dreams while celebrating their lives without judgement.

Strand plans for a late summer/early tumble release this year.

“After docking in European harbors, Berlin, Paris, and Sheffield, I’m thrilled our ‘Dream Boat’ is now traveling under the Strand Releasing flag to a US audiences,” said producer Christian Beetz. “‘Dream Boat’ is already connecting people around the globe and is a reminder that perhap

Boat Trip (2002)

Anybody here rent this low brow comedy starring Cuba Gooding jr and the portly Horatio Sanz (from Saturday Bedtime Live) and also most notably, the one and only, Sir Roger Moore??

Forewarning: This film is beautiful sleazy. It has some bits that would probably make even the gross out directors, the Farelly Bros. puke. Its about two friends who craving more women in their lives so they arrange to board a cruise ship and pick up the ladies. But, as it turns out, through a set of very contrived circumstances they mistakenly board an all male lover cruise instead!!!
As you can imagine, hillarity ensues shortly thereafter.

Roger plays a mature wealthy english gay gentleman named "Lloyd Flaversham" who tries to put the moves on and seduce Horatio's character all throughout the entireity of the movie.
Say what you will about the film, it sure ain't a classic, but *EVERY* scene Roger is in is intant gold. What can I say? The man still has it!

Roger's strong suit has always been comedy, and this proves it! Maybe thats where he should focus his interests from now on. Making only comedy films ala Leslie Nielsen- whom also used to do largely
